our sweet story
cultivating deep roots

With family-farming roots that date back to 1902, David Peri took a liking to the idea of growing onions when he was only 18 years old. Since 1979, when he started Peri & Sons Farms, he has been passionately farming a wide variety of onions, including his special Sweetie Sweet® which is a proprietary sweet onion that Peri & Sons Farms brought to market in 2003.

a love affair

It took many years of research, hard work and dedication before David Peri was satisfied with the shape, appearance, consistency and flavor of a new sweet onion he’d been growing. Once perfected the new onion was trademarked Sweetie Sweet®. Sweetie has been gaining in popularity ever since. You can find them in grocery stores across the U.S. from July through December every year. Our Sweetie Sweet onions are available in Organic (USDA Certified Organic certified by Organic Certifiers) and Premium (Certified Pesticide Residue Free* by SCS Global).

sustainably grown

Our heritage of earth-friendly farming and land stewardship spans back three generations. Even in the early days of establishing Peri & Sons Farms, David Peri understood that the livelihood of the business, and of those who depended on the success of his business, was directly tied to the health and well-being of the environment.

We strive to continually improve efficiency in every aspect of our business. While we consider ourselves caretakers of the land, just as importantly, we understand the importance of taking care of our people. In addition to becoming a cleaner, more efficient and environment-friendly farm, we proudly provide programs designed to enhance worker welfare and wellbeing.
